FC Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04 eV (short FC Schalke 04 or S04) is a sports club from the district of Gelsenkirchen Schalke.
With seven German championships, five hits in Tschammer or DFB Cup and the victory in the UEFA Cup in 1997 counts Schalke 04 of the most successful football clubs in the country and currently occupies the sixth place in the eternal table Bundesliga .
with over 107,000 members (as of February 2012), the association is the second largest sports club in Germany by number of members and also maintains departments for basketball, table tennis, handball and athletics. Since August 2001, the professional footballers wear their home games at the Veltins-Arena (Arena AufSchalke to 2005).
